Fans of experimental fusionists Goat should pay careful attention to the latest release from Tuareg singer-songwriter Mdou Moctar. 'Wiwasharnine' is the second single from his soon to be arriving new album Ilana (The Creator). Pairing playful psychedelia-steeped guitar riffs with springy bass parts and percussive beats, 'Wiwasharnine' is a joyful sonic representation of desert life. However, Moctar's lyrics express an opposing sentiment. Translating to 'This life today I understand nothing, The strongest are always the ones who eliminate the weak, All the countries are in joy, But my people remain stranded, And this pains me,' there's serious and somewhat somber undertone to this bittersweet banger. Ilana (The Creator) will be released via Sahel Sounds on the 29th of March. -Holly Mullineaux
